18 Wheels of Steel (sometimes abbreviated as 18 WoS) is a series of trucking simulators published by ValuSoft and developed by SCS Software. The series currently has 6 installments. Despite being released as budget games, the series has surprisingly high production values.

In this installment (Pedal to the Metal), released in 2004, the user can travel across the entire continental US, and also northern Mexico and southern Canada, through 30 cities. The sleep timer was brought back in this version. It has an improved traffic model. 18 Wheels of Steel: Pedal to the Metal requires OpenGL This installment is thought to be the 2nd most popular game in the series, while 18 Wheels Of Steel: Haulin being most popular.

Edit the CONFIG.CFG file in the My Documents\18 WoS pedal to the metal Open the CONFIG.CFG file. (you may have a dialog box that asks what to open the file with, uses note pad). In the CONFIG file, look for the line "uset g_console" and change the 0 to a 1. Note: Always create a backup when editing game files.

While playing the game press [~] and type the following cheats:

Note: This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup copy of the file before proceeding. Use a text editor to edit the "config.cfg" file in the "\18 wos pedal to the metal" directory. Change the "uset g_traffic density" value from "10.0" to "0.0" and the "uset g_traffic" value to to "0.0".When there is no traffic you can just pass the weight scales and nothing will happen because there are no police.
