Emergency 3 is an emergency service micromanagement game released in 2005. It was developed by Sixteen Tons Entertainment, a German developer, and is the third game in the Emergency series. The game features 20 missions and 2 free-play modes, during witch the player has to deal with various accidents, from simple medical emergencies to terrorist attacks and natural disasters. To do so the player must choose what emergency units to dispatch (within their limited mission budget), and then control those units individually.

System requirements

In order to run this game, your PC must meet or exceed the following requirements[3]:

  • Windows Me/2000/XP
  • Pentium 3 1.2 GHz or Athlon equivalent
  • 256 MiB of VRAM
  • GeForce 2 with 32 MiB of VRAM or equivalent
  • 1 GiB free hard drive space
  • CD-ROM drive
  • Keyboard and mouse

There are 2 kinds of units: vehicles and humans (+ the rescue dog). They are divided in 4 categories: firefighting, police, medical service and technical units.

Fire department

Name Short Cost Staff slots Victim slots Abilities/Use
Equipment Vehicle RW 1500 3 0 Provides all fireman equipment: axe, hose, extinguisher, jump pad, cut-saw, chainsaw.
Ladder Truck DLK 2500 2 0 Features a big ladder which can reach high building floors.
Pumper Truck TLF 1500 3 0 Features an extinguisher plus provides some fireman equipment (axe and extinguisher).
ABC-Decontamination Vehicle Dekon-P 2500 3 2 Decontaminates people.
Armored Pumper Vehicle LPF 3000 2 0 Features an extinguisher like the TLF but is much more resistant (to blast damage, heat...).
Tow Truck ASF 250 0 0 Carries away one small vehicle (cars or vans but not buses or trucks).
Transport Truck With Boat TFMB 750 0 4 The boat can pickup victims or other things in water and drop them by the truck when full.
Canadair - 4000 0 0 Can splash a large amount of water anywhere. Useful to reach remote areas, but not that efficient, and can only be used once every 3 minutes.
Fire Boat - 3000 0 0 Features a powerful extinguisher.

Name Cost Abilities/Use
Firefighter 25 Can move wounded and non-wounded persons, move small debris, use all fireman equipment.
Firefighter with mask 75 Same as the standard firefighter + some resistance to blast, heat and lack of oxygen.
Firefighter ABC 100 Same as the standard firefighter + can bring contaminated victims into the decontamination vehicle (NB: contaminated valid staff can move into the Dekon-P by themselves).
Diver 250 Rescue persons that are in the water and find objects that are under water (typically a car). Walks very slowly because of their flipper.

Health care

Name Short Cost Staff slots Victim slots Abilities/Use
Doctor Vehicle NEF 150 1 0 Can be useful to cheaply bring a single doctor when you forgot one or when you couldn't wait for the slower RTW.
Ambulance RTW 500 2 1 Typically used to bring a doctor and a paramedic to stabilize, pick and evacuate one victim.
Rescue Dogs Vehicle RHF 150 1 0 To bring a rescue dog and its master.
Rescue Helicopter RHC 3000 2 1 Like the RTW but faster and can reach any area. Can transport weaker patients than an ambulance, can pick up a patient without landing to drop them elsewhere.
Mobile Hospital ITW 3000 4 9 Unlike in other health vehicle, a victim in the mobile hospital will remain stabilized even if no doctor is present inside. This vehicle is often used a lot as soon as it becomes available, as it has a lower cost per patient than even the ambulance.

Name Cost Abilities/Use
Paramedic 25 Can move wounded persons, notably into health care vehicles.
Medic 75 Heals victims but also wounded staff.
Rescue dog 75 Search for victims. Useful to find hidden victims, like in an avalanche. Its only weakness is that it will remain focused on the victim as long as they are unattended, being effectively useless during this time (it can notably rush to an obvious to find victim and remain locked on them).

Name Short Cost Staff slots Prisoner slots Abilities/Use
Patrol Car STW 150 2 2 Can be useful to cheaply bring a couple of policemen or a psychologist, or to arrest a couple of persons. Is cheaper per person than the MTW.
Troop Carrier MTW 500 6 4 Transports quite a few policemen and prisoners + provides roadblocks.
Police helicopter PHC 3000 2 1 Used to deploy a small police force quickly (rather marksmen or sharpshooters). Can also evacuate buildings (with its speakers) and follow a vehicle.
Amoured Car SW 1000 6 4 Resistant vehicle which provides roadblocks and flashbang grenades.
Riot Control Unit WaW 1000 0 0 Used to control a crowd by throwing water at them.
Escape Car - 500 - - Provided to hostage takers in some missions.

Name Cost Abilities/Use
Policeman 25 Can arrest, question and send back persons, stop or reroute vehicles, deploy a roadblock.
Marksman 200 Can arrest people, throw flashbang grenades, shoot suspects.
Sharpshooter 350 Can kill suspects (deadly shot)
Psychologist 300 Can question and negotiate.

Technical units (THW)
