Press [~] to open the command line, where you can type the cheats. When typing cheats, the keyboard may be considered as a QWERTY keyboard, so you may want to have a look at the QWERTY layout to find the keys.

Many cheats affecting the player need to start with "player.". For instance, you can set your strength to 255 by typing "player.setAV strength 255". The cheats are case-insensitive.

With the console, you can also modify the environment. The easiest way to do this is to open the console, click on the object or NPC you want to modify, and enter your command. For instance, to unlock a door, open the console, click the door and type unlock. To lock any door, do the same but type lock [the lock lvl you want], eg "lock 50".
