The Valve logo

Valve is a game development and digital distribution company based in Bellevue Washington, and started in 1996. Their all time classic Half Life for the pc and ps2 was a great selling game. Their recent product The Orange Box includes the games:

Valve corporation began when Gabe Newell and Mike Harrington both worked for Microsoft and, by 1996, Microsoft had become one of the wealthiest corporations in the world, and those that had been there since the start found themselves millionaires. The 2 veteran employees as mentioned above had always loved playing games and both enough money to do whatever they wanted decided to make their very own company, sadly neither of them had any experience whatsoever in entertainment and video games, having only worked with OS`sand functional products, at that time they met John Carmack, proclaimed "father of first-person-shooters" of the legenday id Software, who convinced them that they should license the Quake engine and make a game. The 2 were convinced and decided to follow their dreams, and so, Gabe Newell and Mike Harrington starting coming up with names for their company, starting off with names like FruitFly Ensemble, HollowBox, and Ryno Scar, but finally settled on a name that will never be forgotten in video game history.... Valve.
