I noticed a ? by anon editing, does this mean that you're thinking of not doing it? the wiki that I run uses anon editing and without it we'll be staying on version 1.1 71.17.196.170 05:39, 11 August 2010 (CEST)

Yup, I'm thinking of not doing it, mainly because I'm not really sure how we should deal with multi-voting: one per IP? one per IP every X hours/days? what to do if an IP was already used to vote by a user? can an anonymous voter edit their vote? I don't really have answers to those questions, if the people who use anonymous voting can come up with a clear specification (= basically, answers to those questions aka what behavior do you expect from anonymous voting) I can implement it though, it shouldn't be too hard unless you want to involve cookies (which probably isn't a good idea imo since it's so easy not only to remove them but also to edit them). The database is almost ready for it, too (I'd just need to modify the primary key, which can be done quite easily in phpMyAdmin). And there would be a small performance hit for big wikis (one more query on the master database when casting a vote).
Anoynmous voting (and worse, mixed voting) doesn't really have a clear behavior in 1.1, because it was written without a preliminary work on the specs. For instance when migrating from 1.1 to 2 on Wiki4Games, I noticed around 10 anonymous votes cast on the same page at approximately the same hour from almost the same IP (X.X.X.1, X.X.X.2 .... X.X.X.11).
Finally, as stated in the FAQ there's no urgent need to migrate to v2, if you need a function from v1.1 you can stay on it until the function makes it to v2. The to do list isn't guaranteed to be done either, that's just were I place ideas for future developments. Patheticcockroach 08:21, 11 August 2010 (CEST)
yeah I understand the problem with having the annon voting enabled, and all the different ways to go about it, my personal opinion is that it should just be one vote per ip, but then people can do the x.x.x.1 x.x.x.2 thing. I personally don't care for annon voting but the wiki i run likes it so i turned it on. I suppose i could modify the 1.1 to add the new features but it's a little confusing i tried making a parser function version of the rating bar and that didn't work out at all. maybe i should just upgrade anyways and forget the annon voting, they seem to all vote 100 anyways Redekopmark 08:05, 30 September 2010 (CEST)
It's just biased: people who like the topic are (much) more likely to browse the page and vote for it than people who don't. And anyway, most people will rather try to modify the final note than cast the note they really want, so it's more like "zero or 100". On Wiki4Games I even considered replacing the system with a "like"/"don't like" thing like Youtube has. The main reason why I didn't go for it was because I wanted to keep the extension alive. [edit] page moves

could I add a vote to getting the page move part implimented, it's a real pain to try and move 100+ votes by hand Redekopmark 08:47, 30 September 2010 (CEST)

Until the thing is done you can do it more automatically by running a query like UPDATE [votetable] SET pid="[newpageid]" WHERE pid="[oldpageid]". I'm having some study issues ATM, so it might be a while (again) until new features are implemented... Patheticcockroach 22:12, 30 September 2010 (CEST)
