This page is designed as a quick site presentation for first-time visitors... We hope it makes you feel like staying and contributing!

Why Wiki4Games?

1. Because it's a wiki

Unlike most game cheats and guides sites (IGN, Gamespot...), which the user (you!) can't modify, you can edit Wiki4Games to make it better, either to add missing information or to correct erroneous information, like a non-working cheat or an imprecise guide.

2. Because it's free

As in free speech. The huge majority (and at the time we are writing this page, the totality) of our textual content is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License (CC-BY-SA), which grants:

This makes the difference with the few other video game wikis, whose content is either totally non-redistributable ( or restricted to non-commercial use ( Note, however, that we do accept content under other licenses. They must be clearly separated from pages under CC-BY-SA, this is for instance the case for many images.

But why not Wikipedia, then?

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. Their goal is to make articles about everything, in an "encyclopedic" way. This means that, for instance, they refuse game guides/walkthroughs, cheat lists, videos, and to have a high number of screenshots.

Wiki4Games, unlike this, is only about video games, but going much deeper into the games. So not only the description and administrative/business history of the game have a place (NB: this can be derived from the information available on Wikipedia as long as you credit them in accordance with the CC-BY-SA license), but also cheats, guides, screenshots, links to videos, and whatever good you can think of, are more than welcome. In fact, on Wiki4Games, the expected content of the most basic articles is an infobox (even if incomplete) plus some cheats. So, if you are one of those who posted a game guide on Wikipedia which was later deleted, Wiki4Games is definitely the place for you!
